Campaigns

During the year there will be many campaigns that will be run, covering a wide rang of areas of both National and Local concern, to help to make the student body more aware and informed about issues that matter to students.

The reason we campaign is so that we can make students more aware of issues that have a genuine and an often profound effect upon people with the hope of changing things for the betterment of others.

Some people feel that some campaigns have little to do with them; well that might be true on an individual level, but the chances are that one of the Students' Union lead campaigns will affect a friend or family member.

Take the 'Admission Impossible Campaign', the fight for free and fair access to higher education; in a few years the government is reviewing the £3000 'cap' on top up fees, already there is pressure by University Vice Chancellors to lift or remove the 'cap'.  This could basically mean Universities could charge any amount they wish for people to study a course at their institution - creating a market in education.  If you think that £3000 a year is a lot, imagine £12,000 + a year; you could easily be the last person in your family to go to University with charges like that.

Expect to see campaigns about Admission Impossible, LBGT history month, Sexual Health Promotion and many others during the year and also how to get involved.
