Liverpool Hope Students’ Union actively supports and promotes ‘Awareness Months’ with the aim of encouraging understanding and amplifying voices that are often underrepresented.
Throughout the year, our team partners with students, staff and external organisations to host relevant events, provide talks, workshops and encourage learning for each ‘Awareness Month’
We celebrate a range of months, currently they are: Black History, Disability History, LGBTQ+ History and Women's History.
We also aim to bring awareness of specific issues during a named week in the year. To find out whats on this year please see below.
Join the Students’ Union each October as we honour and celebrate Black history. Our events will be a tribute to the rich culture and heritage of the Black community. We will recognise the profound contributions and enduring sacrifices that have shaped global society, while also shining a light on those who are leading the charge for a better world today.
LGBTQ+ History Month is a month-long annual observance, (February 2026) that celebrates the history, contributions and struggles of the LGBTQ+ community. The month raises awareness about the historical experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals, celebrating the contributions of LGBTQ+ people in politics, science, the arts, civil rights, to name a few. Ultimately, this promotes acceptance and understanding by highlighting the voices of the LGBTQ+ community and empowers current and future generations.
Disability History Month (14th November – 20th December 2025) is a time to recognise the history, achievements, and ongoing struggles for equal rights of people with disabilities. It reminds us of how important it is to actively make spaces accessible and inclusive.
Women’s History Month (1st March – 31st March 2025) is a time to acknowledge and celebrate women of the past and present in the collective goal of safety and rights for women and girls. It gives us a chance to highlight the importance of working together in striving for gender equality.
