🎙️ Tune in to our weekly podcasts throughout Black History Month, where this year’s theme is “Honouring Our Communities.”

Each week, we’ll be speaking to members of the Hope community about their personal experiences, exploring their different backgrounds, the barriers they’ve faced, and the journeys that have brought them to where they are today.

We’re lucky to have so many incredible people across our campuses, and these conversations are a great opportunity to look beyond the familiar faces we see every day and gain a deeper insight into their stories, experiences and lives.

This week, we spoke to Andre from People & Planet, a youth-led movement campaigning for a more equitable and sustainable world.

Although People & Planet is an external organisation, the Students’ Union works closely with them to bring initiatives and opportunities to campus.

Andre shared an insightful perspective on his career journey, as well as his thoughts on the importance of Black History Month in today’s society. He also highlighted that, while having a dedicated month to celebrate and recognise Black history is important, the conversation shouldn’t stop there.

Instead, Black history, experiences and achievements should continue to be recognised, celebrated and explored throughout the year. 🌍✊🏿
