Virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Every year the Students Union has to formally ask its members to approve a list of affiliations, accounts and annual reports. This is usually done at an open meeting. Due to the CovId 19 lockdown that is not possible this year However as a member led organisation we are keen to ensure that students are able to have a say in how we are run.

Therefore we will be asking students to approve these documents via a Google form which will be sent out to all students (to be returned by May 8th)

The form will also be a chance for you to vote on which student groups should receive monies in the last round of forum funding.

Policy Motion - Charitable Incorporated Organisation- Moved by Haris Rashid and Caitriona Cairns.                             The majority of Students' Unions over the last couple of years have chosen the Foundation Model.  This is because the administrative burden of keeping registers of members is reduced, if the only legal members are the trustees.  All Liverpool Hope students still have democratic rights under the Education Act 1994 to elect officers, vote on policies at the AGM and the right to vote on any changes to the Constitution.

The NUS Associate Model constitution for a CIO also preserves democratic rights for students e.g. the right to attend and vote on certain matters at an AGM and the right to vote on any changes to the Constitution.  However, the details of every student have to be kept up to date constantly and due to the number of students registered and the constant changes to their status, this is a huge administrative burden for the small SU Team at LHU.”Based on the research Foundation CIO model?

Do you approve LHSU adopting the Foudation model of CIO?
